Prepping

We got to the museum grounds right when they opened, and we got some shots of 1630 being prepped for the day's excursions. I learned that the thing sticking out her stack is somewhat of a ventilation fan to add air into the fire to get it going quicker, and to filter out the smoke and ashes. So, is 1630 a tea kettle or a whirly bird?

Just kidding. I took a few like this but I enjoyed the crew doing their jobs the most. I've always liked the locomotive shots that show off the crew too. While the locomotive is a grand machine, it still takes a crew of people and some skilled hands to operate them and keep them in good working order. That's just my two cents, though.
